INDIVIDUAL HOUSe
Interior design project for a 41 m² living space in a detached family home on the outskirts of Bordeaux, southwest France. The space brings together an entrance, a functional kitchen with dining area, and a TV lounge organised around a bespoke unit integrating a wood-burning stove and ample storage. A palette of neutral tones lifted by brass accents and wooden touches composes a warm, soft and deeply functional atmosphere. Discover this project through images.

The brief: This project is located on the outskirts of Bordeaux, in a detached family home where the 41 m² main living space had to be entirely rethought. The mission: to design a layout that is simple, functional and refined at once, capable of bringing together an entrance, an open kitchen with dining area and a TV lounge within a single coherent volume. Bespoke craftsmanship guided the whole project, in a palette of warm neutral tones lifted by brass accents and wooden touches.
The entrance is organised around storage cabinetry picking up the tone of the kitchen and seamlessly integrating into the wall paint. In the recess left by the wardrobe, two beautiful design pieces, a console and a mirror, bring an immediately refined touch and set the tone for the rest of the room.
The kitchen is built on simple, functional volumes. The refrigerator was placed at the back of the room to free up a visual opening across the entire worktop, lightening the whole composition. An island was positioned against the wall to preserve circulation: it serves as a dining area while remaining fully operational during meal preparation. Three light, elegant pendant lights in glass and brass overhang this space, a detail that creates a visual link with the brass accents present in the entrance and the lounge.
The lounge is articulated around a long sofa set against the wall, topped by a geometric artwork and a brass wall sconce. The space is anchored by a rug in ochre tones and rhythmed by sculptural coffee tables with rounded forms, whose glass tops visually lighten the room. Facing the sofa, a bespoke TV unit clothes an entire wall in a play of contrasting materials: the lower section picks up the tone of the kitchen to ensure continuity, while the upper section integrates a wood-burning stove, alcoves and wooden shelves. Lighting was the subject of particular care, a slim brass floor lamp with glass bubbles echoing the roundness of the coffee tables, backlighting behind the television, integrated lighting within the shelves above the stove, picture lighting on the artwork, allowing the atmosphere to be modulated throughout the day. And on winter evenings, the simple light of the fire is enough to dress the room.
Our goal was to demonstrate that a compact surface can, through precise work on bespoke design, circulation and lighting, host three distinct functions without ever feeling cramped. This project illustrates an essential dimension of our craft: thinking of every square metre as a useful volume, where bespoke furniture becomes the true tool for optimising a living space. A particularly precious approach for detached homes with compact living areas, common in recent constructions around Bordeaux, where the challenge is to combine functionality, elegance and a sense of space.
