Pyla sur mer HOUSE

Outdoor design project for a private home in Pyla-sur-Mer, on the southern shore of Arcachon Bay, one of the most prestigious seaside destinations in southwest France, home to the famous Dune du Pilat. A large pool bordered by a wooden terrace, an outdoor lounge with sculptural forms in soft pastel hues, and a landscape design structured by carefully curated nocturnal lighting compose a garden that is both minimalist and deeply lived-in. • The brief: This home located in Pyla-sur-Mer, on the southern shore of Arcachon Bay, had a beautiful outdoor space that only needed to be revealed. Our mission: to design the garden and its surroundings with simplicity, articulated around a large pool, creating a place of relaxation and leisure perfectly integrated with the architecture of the house. The guiding principle of the project: to enhance with utter simplicity, while preserving an open, breathing space.

    • The wooden terrace lines the house and surrounds the pool, creating a natural continuity between indoors and outdoors. Its generous dimensions leave ample room for circulation and sun loungers, while preserving the open space around the basin, perfect for moments of family leisure.

    • The outdoor lounge, set facing the house, brings the project's signature touch of personality. Seating with organic forms and soft pastel hues, powdered pink, sea green, gentle yellow, punctuate with originality a deliberately minimalist composition. A measured contrast that gives character to the whole without ever weighing it down.

    • The landscape design structures the back of the garden through a linear placement of vegetation at varying heights, bringing rhythm and depth to the space. The boundary fence, clad in a light-toned wall punctuated by wall sconces, fully integrates into the garden.

    • The nocturnal lighting transforms the whole at nightfall. The vegetation gains in relief, the boundary wall becomes a decorative element in its own right, and the illuminated pool anchors the space in a serene, refined atmosphere. This interplay of lights, subtly integrated into the landscape design, brings the garden to life by day as well as by night, an essential detail to fully enjoy the long summer evenings of Arcachon Bay.

This project illustrates an approach we particularly cherish: that of "less but better." A successful outdoor design is not measured by the quantity of furniture placed, but by the precision of choices, materials, proportions, light, that allow a space to take on its full meaning. A philosophy particularly suited to the homes of Arcachon Bay, where the beauty of the natural setting calls for restraint rather than excess.
