Andernos les Bains house

Interior design and decoration project for a 74 m² living space in a home in Andernos-les-Bains, on the northern shore of Arcachon Bay, southwest France. An open kitchen in black and wood tones, a dining room with sculptural furniture and a cosy TV lounge unfold in a restrained palette, extended by large floor-to-ceiling windows offering a stunning view onto the garden and the future swimming pool. A perfect marriage between simplicity and sophistication, where every piece becomes a design statement. Discover this project through images.

    • The brief: This home is located in Andernos-les-Bains, on the northern shore of Arcachon Bay. Our clients, a couple close to retirement and without children, wished to design their 74 m² living space in a minimalist spirit, around a deliberately restrained colour palette. Their brief : a very light flooring and white walls, a kitchen conceived as the centrepiece of the space, and a layout capable of fully embracing the large floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto the garden and the future swimming pool. This dual chromatic and luminous requirement guided the entire project, where every piece of furniture was chosen for its sculptural gesture and its ability to exist within a refined graphic composition.

    • The kitchen is articulated around a strong contrast between black and wood, which stands out against the lightness of the floor and walls and immediately sets the tone for the rest of the layout. A central island, equipped with bar stool seating, makes it a space that is both functional and convivial, perfect for sharing moments as much as for preparing meals.

    • The dining room, facing the kitchen, is anchored by an oval table with a glass top whose pedestal evokes a tree trunk, a discreet nod to the natural setting of Arcachon Bay. The chairs, with their curved forms and bronze tones, accentuate the sculptural character of this space. A sideboard in wooden slats echoes the wood partitions that subtly separate the lounge, creating a visual continuity between the zones.

    • The TV lounge sits in a more recessed position, just behind the wooden slat partitions that bring additional intimacy to the space without closing it off completely. A TV wall composition picks up the colour codes of the kitchen (black and wood), creating a graphic thread running through the entire room. Facing it, a sofa with rounded lines softens this more pronounced palette and invites relaxation.

This project illustrates a dimension of interior design we particularly enjoy exploring : turning a restrained palette into a true asset. Rather than a constraint, the minimalist parti pris becomes here the revealer of the furniture itself : each piece, each line and each material takes on its full meaning, extended by the natural light that floods the room through the large floor-to-ceiling windows. A perfect marriage between simplicity and sophistication, particularly suited to contemporary homes on Arcachon Bay, where the restraint of the interior design allows for a richer dialogue with the exceptional light and natural setting of the region.
