Villa Blanca

Interior design and decoration project for the ground floor of an architect-designed villa, recently acquired by our clients in the Bordeaux area, southwest France. Across this living space, the entrance, the home office, the lounge, the relaxation area around the central fireplace and the dining room have been reimagined in a light, luminous palette punctuated by touches of green and marble : an elegant, functional and serene composition. • The brief: Villa Blanca is a contemporary villa recently acquired by our clients in the Bordeaux area. Their wish : to entirely rethink the ground floor layout while preserving the dominant atmosphere of white and light that characterises the house. Our mission covered the entire main living space (entrance, home office open to the lounge, lounge, relaxation area facing the central fireplace, dining room), with a clear objective : to compose a coherent layout where each function flows fluidly into the next, without breaking the original visual unity.

    • The entrance is built on a deliberately minimalist parti pris. A long wall-mounted unit and a round mirror, almost treated as a work of art in itself, are enough to inhabit the space. This choice leaves it to the architectural lines themselves to carry the atmosphere : a restraint that serves the original graphic gesture of the architecture.

    • The relaxation area takes place at the centre of the room, facing the fireplace, and plays the role of a pivot between the dining room and the lounge, two spaces of very different character that it subtly connects. Two armchairs anchor the zone : their structural black legs echo the graphic character of the dining room, while their green fabric seats announce the nuances that will reappear in the lounge rug. Between the armchairs, a green marble pedestal table with a black top extends this dual dialogue : its top reinforces the link with the dining room, its green marble with the lounge.

    • The dining room is organised around a sculptural table with a black top and a Carrara marble base, highlighted by a rug with graphic line patterns that emphasises the centrepiece of this space. The black and structured character of the whole resonates with the legs of the armchairs in the relaxation area, creating a strong visual continuity from one zone to the next.

    • The lounge, placed in mirror to the dining room on either side of the relaxation area, hosts a large enveloping sofa, perfect for family movie nights as well as for moments of reading facing the view outside. A rug in green nuances anchors the zone and responds to the seats of the armchairs in the central area, extending the chromatic guiding thread. A marble coffee table echoes the base of the dining table, reinforcing the coherence of the whole. The corner return of the sofa naturally delineates the home office area, which sits in a recess of the room while benefiting from the light of the outside bay windows.

This project illustrates a situation we regularly encounter : that of clients who have just acquired a property and wish to move in serenely, without an accumulation of mismatched furniture bought week after week. Our intervention allows them to visualise the entire layout before the handover of keys, to choose each piece in coherence with the others, and to be ready to inhabit the space from day one. An approach particularly precious for contemporary homes in the Bordeaux region, where the quality of the architecture and the luminosity of the spaces call for a layout worthy of their potential.
