Bordeaux Construction

Off-plan interior design project for a new build family home on the outskirts of Bordeaux, in the heart of the Bordeaux wine region, southwest France. Across 75 m² of multifunctional living space, the project brings together an entrance with cloakroom, an open kitchen connected to the dining room, a lounge and a reading nook, in a palette of neutral, natural tones contrasted by a black kitchen and traditional Gironde tile flooring. A project conceived ahead of construction, allowing young clients to fully project themselves into their future home. Discover this project through images.

    • The brief: This project was designed for a young couple building their new home on the outskirts of Bordeaux. Our mission: to design their future 75 m² living space ahead of breaking ground, helping them fully project themselves into a space that was still virtual. Defining each function, organising circulation, selecting materials and furniture in coherence with their lifestyle, everything had to be thought through long before the first walls went up. The palette was built around neutral, natural tones, brought into tension by a black kitchen echoing the joinery of the house, and lifted by traditional Gironde tile flooring, a nod to local heritage that gives immediate character to the whole composition.

    • The entrance and cloakroom were designed to be functional without sacrificing elegance. We drew a cloakroom with subtly vintage lines, blending closed wardrobes for coats and shoes, exposed coat hooks for character, and a central banquette for welcoming guests. An immediately warm space that sets the tone from the moment of arrival.

    • The dining room is organised around a table and chairs in wood and woven cane, sublimated by the iconic Brass pendant light by Gervasoni. At the back of the room, a wall clad in a mirrored finish integrates a concealed door opening onto the laundry room and pantry, bringing genuine depth to the space.

    • The kitchen, semi-open, is separated from the dining room by a black-framed glass partition, echoing the windows of the house. The flooring was deliberately differentiated with traditional Gironde tiles, which bring a unique heritage character while remaining easy to maintain. The clients wanted the cooking zone and sink integrated at the heart of the room: we therefore inscribed them in the central island, ideal for cooking facing one's guests, thereby freeing up a vast worktop facing the window.

    • The lounge answers a precise vision: two sofas facing each other, perpendicular to the television, opening the room to conversation while keeping the view onto the outdoors. A bespoke bookcase runs along the wall, integrating the television and housing storage and decorative objects. The Gervasoni sofas, in linen with black piping, echo the joinery of the house in turn. Behind the sofa, a reading nook was created around a wood-burning stove and a decorative alcove, a more intimate space, perfect for quiet moments.

Our mission was to support these young clients through a key milestone: transforming a construction project into a true place of life, by anticipating every choice before the walls even came out of the ground. This project illustrates an essential dimension of our craft: intervening early, dialoguing with the architecture as it takes shape, and allowing our clients to project themselves with confidence into their future everyday life. An approach particularly precious for new build projects, where every upstream decision conditions the comfort and coherence of the final result.
