Château Médoc
Interior architecture project for two prototype suites within a five-star hotel set in a prestigious château of the Médoc wine appellation, at the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, southwest France. Conceived as a reference model destined to inspire all the suites of the establishment, these two variations combine high-end furniture, noble materials and the codes of luxury hospitality, in a palette of provincial tones celebrating the authenticity of the terroir and the refinement of French art de vivre. The brief: This luxury hospitality project is located within an entirely renovated château at the heart of the Médoc vineyards, in the Gironde, southwest France. The owner of this five-star establishment wished to welcome an international high-end clientele in a setting worthy of the surrounding wine-growing heritage. His brief : to design two prototype suites destined to serve as the reference model for all the rooms of the hotel, in a coherent yet never repetitive spirit, each one carrying its own chromatic identity and singular atmosphere. Our intervention covered the complete design of the spaces : layout, furniture selection, choice of materials, staging of the original architectural elements and respect for the specific constraints of high-end hospitality.
The suite concept : each suite was conceived as a true autonomous apartment, offering its occupants all the comfort of an extended stay. It includes a sleeping area with a king-size bed and dressing room, an elegant bathroom, a lounge area, a dining area with a small kitchen, and a private balcony opening onto the estate. An organisation designed to combine the intimacy of a hotel room with the freedom of a private residence.
The materials and palette : the two suites share a common foundation : natural wood, light cream fabrics, exposed stone walls bringing freshness and authenticity, and herringbone parquet flooring delineating the sleeping area (a nod to French tradition and the gently rustic character of the place). On this shared base, two distinct chromatic variations were conceived : one in golden yellow tones, the other in sage green tones. This dual proposition allows the hotel to vary the experience of its suites while preserving an overall coherence, a fundamental principle of high-end hospitality, where each room must tell a variation around a common narrative.
The living spaces : in the lounge, a magnificent chandelier signed Eichholtz revisits the codes of the candlelit chandeliers of yesteryear while adding a touch of modernity. The generous draping and refined hanging of the curtains immediately install the codes of the château through the very richness of their fabrics. The selected furniture, pieces from high-end brands with precious finishes, meets the standards of a five-star establishment while respecting the spirit of the place.
The bathrooms remain faithful to a classic and refined line, in tones of aged brass and travertine. A wooden vanity unit picks up the wood species present in the rest of the suite, creating true visual cohesion throughout. The result : a bathroom of discreet elegance, designed to evoke refinement rather than overplay it.
The guest experience : the private balcony, which completes each suite, opens onto the estate and its vineyards, a staging of the landscape that is an integral part of the experience offered by the hotel. More than a simple room, each suite becomes a true anchor point for the stay : a place of intimacy, contemplation and prestige.
This project illustrates a dimension of our craft that considerably broadens our field of expertise : interior design applied to luxury hospitality. Designing for a five-star hotel means working with specific constraints (a demand for measured standardisation, respect for the codes of the sector, consideration of the multiple uses of a single space by successive occupants), while proposing a true signature. An expertise particularly precious for prestige hotels, wine châteaux and heritage properties of the Médoc, the Bordeaux region and the great French wine-growing regions, where the marriage between heritage, terroir and international standing constitutes the very heart of the experience offered to high-end clienteles.
